Angola is a vast country where service delivery does not reach all of its citizens, despite the improvements achieved since the end of the war in 2002. Access to water and sanitation is a key element in improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable population groups and is therefore a decisive component of foreign investment companies development cooperation with Angola.

Angola has one of the biggest and fastest growing populations in Sub-Saharan Africa. Over 22,5 million people lived in the country in 2015, with the majority being below 20 years old and living in urban areas – primarily the capital city Luanda. The population is expected to reach 26 million by 2020 due to the high birth rate, improving healthcare and living conditions.

Angola’s infrastructure spending has significantly increased over the past few years. However, the recent drop in oil price has inevitably led to some scaling back, with certain projects being delayed. As a result, the Angolan Government is looking for more foreign investment along with Public Private Partnerships (PPP) mechanisms.
